The American Quarter Horse Association - NZ Inc is the official breed association for the Quarter Horse in New Zealand.

Formed in 1970, the AQHA-NZ is a thriving, vibrant organisation offering competitions, education and incentive programmes for youth and amateur riders, including the bi-annual Quarter Horse Youth World Cup and Trans-Tasman Challenge.

 

We are in the process of setting up a cattle fundraising scheme to help with the funding required to run our organisation. At this stage, we are seeking expressions of interest in participating in this scheme and to which level you may choose to participate.

We will have several levels of participation of which you could choose one or multiple levels as follows:

1) Providing a calf to be raised.

2) Providing funds to purchase milkpowder/meal.

3) Raising a calf through to weaning.

4) Grazing a calf from weaning to a saleable age.

Note that participation at any level will be greatly appreciated by the AQHA-NZ Council and the membership in general. Also, please be aware that all levels other that level 2 will provide you to be NAIT registered as per current legislation.

  • Two Year Old Led Trail
  • Two Year old Longe line
  • And the Three Year Old Ranch Riding Futurity

 

 

So bring along your yearlings and two year olds for the age group halter classes, halter futurity and halter maturity, longe line and these new led trail classes. High Point Young Horse trophy over these classes.

Friday night will continue to offer our feature events including the new novelty pink class with all entry fees going to breast cancer, and sponsored prizes award

Remember AQHA-NZ offers a $500 bonus to the trifecta winner. This is where the same horse wins the Yearling Halter Futurity, a year later the 2yr Old Halter Maturity and then as a 3 yr old they win either the 3yr Old Western Pleasure Futurity or the 3yr Old Ranch Riding Futurity.

Brent Maxwell  is the Owner/Operator of Mil Max Training Center in Ohio, USA, and recent successes say it all.

Brent Maxwell, an AQHA judge and professional trainer for over thirty years, knows what it takes to be successful in the show ring. During his career, he has produced multiple Congress and AQHA World Champions. In addition to these successes, he frequently hauls his customers for AQHA High Point and Honor Roll titles. Brent is on the executive committee of the Ohio Quarter Horse Association
